Team Method Guitar is written by Ben Edwards (yep, the same guy that created Jamorama) and the Rock Star Recipes Ltd creative team. Their goal is to produce the BEST learn beginning guitar course available anywhere. As such the Team Method Guitar Learning Course is a "work in progress" and development and revisions are ongoing.

The Team Concept:

Team Method Guitar is a new concept in guitar learning based on the fact that no one person can be expected to be an expert in ALL aspects of guitar playing, and a student learns BETTER, without picking up bad habits, when they learn from more than one person.

Ben has assembled a talented Team of guitarists and musicians with skills in different specialty areas. We have an acoustic guitar expert, a lead guitar expert, an early-learning expert and even a music theory expert to name but a few. Team Method Guitar is a complete guitar COURSE. It takes a student from "never held a guitar before" beginner through practical, step-by-step lessons to become a seasoned, advanced player. Music theory is also covered so the student becomes a well-rounded musician as well.

What The Customer Gets:

The Team Method Guitar learning kit is made up of six books (with nearly 500 pages of information) and 10 DVDs and CDs. In addition to the Beginner and Advanced Lead course books there are mini courses in several skills including acoustic guitar, playing by ear and music theory. For those that would rather have a physical product as opposed to downloadable material, Team Method Guitar is sold primarily as a physical books and discs package. However, there is also a downloadable option that is less expensive than ordering the actual CDs and books. A second advantage to the downloadable option is immediate delivery of the product customers can get started learning guitar right away instead of waiting for the course to arrive in mail.

Live Support:

Team Method Guitar gives the student LIVE online support. As far as I can tell, they are the only course that offers this. They will start with live support in the critical USA/Canada afternoon and evening hours. This means that students will be able to get help when they need it most when they have problems. Team Method Guitar has also stated that they will also expand these hours as the student base grows.

Final Thoughts...

I really loved this course! It definitely had everything a person needs to really learn how to play the guitar. The only thing I didn't really care for was the price. Don't get me wrong, at $97.00, it is worth it (considering everything you get included in the course). I guess it would just boil down to if you had the money to spend or not.

I will relate these courses to buying a car. If you just want a car that will get you to point A from point B but don't have a lot of money to spend, then I would grab up Jamorama. It is inexpensive and it will certainly get you to where you want to be playing the guitar. However, if you have the extra money, and want to get some of those luxury features on your car, then Team Method Guitar is the course for you.
